FEATURED PRESENTATION

Dakota Favel and the Backpack

What happens when we carry everything and tell nobody?

Throughout this presentation, Dakota adds weighted balls to a backpack. Each one represents pain, grief, anger, hurt or difficult experiences people may carry. As the backpack grows heavier, Dakota carries that weight throughout the presentation to show how unresolved feelings can build up when we keep them to ourselves.

The demonstration encourages reflection, seeking support and finding healthy ways to release what we carry. Dakota does not ask anyone to share publicly. After the presentation, people are welcome and encouraged to talk with him about how it made them feel and ways to release the weight. He often closes with an acoustic performance.

  • Schools and youth conferences
  • Wellness and leadership gatherings
  • Community and staff events
“I do not expect one presentation to change somebody’s entire life. I want to plant a seed and remind them that they do not have to carry everything alone.”
